#19 - Spring Street Studios 1

In 2019, PCI made changes to two of their industrial buildings, just steps away from skytrain. Their goal was to accommodate a community of local artists in 16 studios. Thanks to significant subsidies from PCI, the Spring Street Artist Studios have become an arts hub in the City of the Arts.

Exhibiting Artists

Sarah Dixon

Sarah Dixon has been creating theatre since 2002 and formed Port Moody's Rebel Haunt Theatre in 2009. She has served as the company’s Artistic Director ever since.  Her art practice began in her early years as she sat alongside her artist grandmother painting in the garden.

“Sarah studied writing and visual arts at the Kootenay School of the Arts and still practices drawing, painting, ceramics and mixed media. She brings a strong visual and poetic style to the theatre performances she creates with her company. Her artwork and theatre focus on micro epic storytelling. Filling canvases, cafes, fields, townsites and other everyday spaces with vast human significance.”

Julia Nygra

Julia has always been interested in the therapeutic benefits and expressions through art. She completed two residencies at Leigh Square Art Center and more recently, at Port Moody Art Center.

Julia considers herself a perpetual student - always interested in new and ever evolving techniques of manipulating clay.

Grateful for the support of her colleagues, Julia hopes to engage, inspire others and assist others in their healing journey and exploration.

“Our passions are reflected in the work we do. Art is a glimpse of the creator's influences, dreams and soul.”
