Artists
Tamara Grand
I am an abstract artist drawn to bold colour, organic shapes, and the energy of transformation. My paintings explore memory, emotion, and change, capturing both fleeting moments and the layers of history that build over time. Each piece is a reflection of my own evolving process—intuitive, expressive, and always open to surprise.
As a primarily self-taught artist, I embrace spontaneity, allowing my work to develop through an ongoing dialogue with the canvas. I don’t begin with a fixed plan; instead, I respond to each mark, shape, and colour in real time. My process is about discovery, letting unexpected relationships emerge between elements and allowing space for both clarity and complexity. I work in acrylic paint and wax pastel on canvas.
My current body of work explores the idea of portals—openings into other spaces, memories, or ways of seeing. The paintings themselves act as doorways, drawing viewers in and encouraging them to engage beyond the surface. Within the compositions, portal-like forms suggest movement and transition, symbolizing the continuous process of change.
At its heart, my work is an exploration of becoming—of embracing uncertainty, honouring what came before, and stepping into what’s next. Each painting is an invitation to slow down, look closer, and find meaning in the layers of time, colour, and form.

Although Edge is well known for her watercolours, oils and charcoal have become an important part of her creative process.
Her subject matter over the years has included florals, nests, seascapes, animals, and landscapes. The subject suggests the choice of medium.
In 2024 she was selected to join the prestigious artist residency in France at Chateau Orquevaux for 2 weeks.
Marney-Rose has appeared on the cover of International Artist Magazine, with a 10 page feature article. Her work has been featured in the highly-acclaimed series of Splash books, the Best of Watercolour and Acrylic works, The Best of Acrylics, as well as receiving many other awards. She is a Signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, serving on the Board of Directors for a number of years. Edge is also a Signature member of the Society of Canadian Artists and a Signature member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.
"My work is anchored by the fragility in nature. Expressed through the fleeting colours of a landscape, the tender beauty of petals and the complex textures from natures architects.
I invite you to explore my expression of a beautiful, fragile world.
Being a master of different mediums, it is my creative expression that dictates my choices. I work in watercolour, or charcoal or oils. Gently caressing them in many layers, creating depth and dimension within each painting. My colour palette has a base of 12 colours which can vary or be extended, depending on the subject."
