There are certain moments in life that catch us off guard, bringing us joy and completely stopping time. These moments may be small and fleeting or large and life-changing, but they all share a common theme of being thoroughly and wonderfully, unexpected.

As a painter, I’m constantly on the lookout for these ‘magic moments’ in my work. The unanticipated blending of two colours, the surprising contrast between hard and soft edges, the forgotten layers unearthed by removing paint; discoveries that delight my senses, focus my attention and make me forget everything but what’s on the canvas in front of me.
